The Red Devils surrendered control of the contest despite leading three times, eventually settling for a point after teenager Eli Junior Kroupi struck late for the visitors in a chaotic eight-goal thriller.

United escape unwanted history

United were close to an unwanted record, having never previously lost a Premier League home game when leading at half-time.

Quick second-half goals from Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha briefly turned the tide in Ruben Amorim’s favour, but Bournemouth’s resilience ensured the hosts could not see the game out.

While United avoided defeat, the performance raised fresh concerns about their defensive structure.

Cundy targets Amorim’s setup

Speaking on talkSPORT, pundit Jason Cundy criticised United’s lack of discipline, describing their approach as “gung-ho”.

He argued that United failed to manage key moments after going ahead and allowed Bournemouth back into the contest far too easily.

United have now conceded 26 goals in just 16 Premier League games this season, a statistic Cundy described as unacceptable for a side aiming to compete seriously.

Defensive worries persist

Cundy warned that United’s defensive issues must be addressed quickly, stressing that attacking football alone is not enough at the top level.

He referenced the long-standing belief that solid defences underpin successful teams, pointing to Arsenal’s league-best defensive record as a benchmark.
