Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode, widely recognized for her role as Toyosi in Funke Akindele’s popular series Jenifa’s Diary, has addressed speculations surrounding her career decisions.
Speaking on her Instagram and TikTok accounts, she explained that her choice to decline roles involving kissing scenes or revealing outfits stems from her Christian faith and personal convictions, not from pride or reluctance to collaborate.
Juliana emphasized that she is open to working with any director or producer, as long as the role aligns with her spiritual values. She clarified that her stance is a personal decision and not a critique of colleagues who accept such parts.
By speaking out, the actress hopes to dispel false narratives suggesting that she avoids collaborations or sees herself as superior to others in the industry.
Olayode gained widespread recognition with her portrayal of Toyosi in Jenifa’s Diary, a performance that quickly made her a familiar face in Nigerian households. Since then, she has participated in numerous Nollywood projects, earning a reputation as one of the industry’s promising talents.
Her recent clarification comes in response to rumors claiming that she deliberately distances herself from producers claims she described as both misleading and hurtful.
In her message, Juliana expressed appreciation for the filmmakers she has worked with so far and reaffirmed her respect for several leading industry figures, expressing hope that future collaborations will happen at the right time.
