Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reflected on what life has been like for him since he left his role at Anfield to take a break from football.
The German international was speaking in an interview where he was asked about his daily routine and whether he missed the game since leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2023/24 season. According to him, he has not missed anything and has attended more social events in the last year than in the previous 25 years.
He said,
“I haven’t missed anything in my life because I never thought about it. For 25 years, I went to weddings twice; one was mine, the other was 2 months ago. In 25 years, I went to the cinema 4 times, all of them in the last 8 weeks. As a coach, I went to a lot of countries but didn’t see any of them; I only saw the hotel, the stadium, and the training ground.”
When did Jurgen Klopp join Liverpool?
Jürgen Klopp officially became Liverpool’s manager on 8 October 2015, after Brendan Rodgers was sacked following a poor run of results. At the time, Liverpool were struggling for consistency in both domestic and European competitions. Klopp arrived with a strong reputation, having great success at Borussia Dortmund, where he won two Bundesliga titles, the German Cup, and guided the club to the 2013 UEFA Champions League final.
He transformed Liverpool into one of Europe’s elite clubs, leading them to the 2019 Champions League title, the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup, and ending the club’s 30-year wait for a league title by winning the Premier League in 2019/20.
