During a livestream on February 19, gospel musician and Hallelujah Challenge founder Pastor Nathaniel Bassey addressed those opposing the global prayer initiative, cautioning them about potential spiritual consequences.

Earlier, Father Joshua Mary Ugbedeojo Abuh had advised Catholics not to take part in the Hallelujah Challenge during Lent, suggesting that doing so could contradict their religious observances. He noted that while the programme itself isn’t harmful, joining it during the 40-day fasting period could be seen as inconsistent with Catholic practice.

Speaking on Day 11 of the Hallelujah Challenge, streamed on YouTube, Bassey acknowledged that this year’s event has encountered unprecedented resistance, which he described as spiritual opposition. He highlighted the significance of starting the programme with 24 hours of continuous praise, asserting that no spiritual force could halt it.

“Do you know why this Hallelujah Challenge is facing so much resistance? I have never seen it opposed by Satan and his forces like this year. That’s why the Lord impressed on us to send Judah ahead. This is the first time we decided to begin with 24 hours of praise, and nothing can stand in the way of this movement,” he said.

Bassey also drew parallels with the biblical story of those who mocked David and faced immediate divine judgment, warning critics that anyone attempting to hinder the Hallelujah Challenge could face God’s judgment.

“I pity them. In the Bible, those who mocked David were judged instantly. I declare from this altar: anyone who resists the Hallelujah Challenge risks God’s judgment. If you don’t want to participate, simply step aside. The kingdom of God endures intense spiritual opposition,” he added.

Referencing Genesis 49:10, Bassey emphasized the power of praise through Judah and urged critics to let believers freely worship during the event.

“Judah, when you talk about Judah praise, you’re talking about the lion. The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver between his feet until Shiloh come until unto him shall the gathering of his people be. The devil and his host are warned. Say, leave us alone to serve our God. I’m saying it now. If you have loved ones, tell them. Say, if you don’t want to watch it, leave it alone. Do you know why this is so resisted is because there’s so much power.”

@ShalayeProMax:”Using the scripture to threaten Christian’s who have opposing opinions about the timing of this event is wild cos nobody has monopoly to being a child of God. As you dey cuss na so God dey return am back to you in multiple folds.”

@OddCruise:”Everyone is a preacher in Nigeria. One of my distant cousin failed as an artisan, businessman and gospel artist. He is now a preacher. They always don’t like to be scrutinised. ‘Sow your car as a seed’ and all they want to hear is ‘yes papa’.”

@Oluwaecan:”Wetin this guy’s dey drink. Like must all of you be arrogant in foolishness.”
