Police in the Eastern Cape, South Africa are searching for a 42-year-old man who allegedly murdered his 22-year-old former girlfriend and later shot his 49-year-old wife dead in separate incidents during the early hours of Tuesday, August 5.
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Nobuntu Gantana, the suspect first opened fire on his ex-girlfriend at a tavern in Chithwayo. He then proceeded to his residence in Unity Park, where he allegedly shot his wife while she was asleep.
“The suspect first shot his ex-girlfriend at a tavern in Chithwayo before proceeding to his home in Unity Park where he allegedly shot his wife, 49, while she was asleep,” said Brigadier Gantana.
The man reportedly fled the scene in the family vehicle, which was later found abandoned by police. Authorities say the motive behind the killings remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing.
