Nigeria National League, NNL, side, Akwa United have been charged to maintain focus and commitment as they intensify efforts to secure a return to the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, next season.

The Promise Keepers were relegated to the Nigeria National League, NNL, last season.

The Akwa Ibom State commissioner for sports, Elder Paul Bassey gave the charge during a visit to the team’s training in readiness for the second stanza in Uyo on Friday.

Bassey urged the players not to be complacent but to approach the second round with renewed determination and professionalism.

“The league is played in two halves, and the second round will be more demanding. You must remain focused and leave nothing to chance,” Bassey stated during his visit to the team.

Akwa United currently top Conference B with 19 points from nine matches.

They will take on Rovers FC in their opening fixture for the second stanza which is scheduled for February 14th, 2026.
