Victor Osimhen will aim to move up the Nigerian scoring chart on Friday (today) when the Super Eagles confront Guinea-Bissau in a match day three Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The Napoli striker is currently placed ninth in the all-time scoring chart with 15 goals from 23 games.

Osimhen, who has established himself among the world’s finest strikers, firing Napoli to the brink of the Scudetto and generating reported transfer interest from some of the world’s biggest clubs, is one goal shy of Odion Ighalo and Ahmed Musa’s goals record.

The duo has played more games than the 24-year-old but the former Lille star has a better goal ratio of 0.68 per cent.

Late Rashidi Yekini leads the chart with 37 goals from 67 games – 22 more than Osimhen but several fans have backed the Napoli striker to surpass his feat if he sustains his scoring form for the Eagles.

Last June, Osimhen who has notched 25 goals in all competitions this season for Napoli scored four goals in a remarkable 10-0 win for Nigeria against Sao Tome and Principe.

His goalscoring heroics came days after he had netted the winner in a 2-1 win over Sierra Leone on Matchday one.

With five goals, the former U-17 World Cup winner and record goal scorer (with 10 goals) is the leading scorer in the qualifying race and will aim to take his chance in the two matches against Guinea Bissau in order to put daylight between himself and other contenders.
