The Osun Amotekun Corps has recovered a stolen Toyota Matrix vehicle and six 42-inch LG television sets following an armed robbery attack at a hotel in Ode-Omu.

The robbery, according to the Amotekun Corps Commander, Isaac Omoyele in a statement on Tuesday, occurred in the early hours of Saturday when armed assailants targeted a hotel where guests from Lagos were staying for a funeral ceremony.

The attackers reportedly made away with the vehicle valued at N7 million and the television sets worth over N3 million.

The Amotekun boss disclosed that the victims lodged their complaints at the Amotekun Corps Command in Ayedaade local government area which prompted an immediate mobilisation of operatives to trace the suspects.

He said a tracking operation was initiated by the Amotekun operatives which resulted in a pursuit that led to Ogere in neighbouring Ogun State.

According to him, a gun duel ensued between the Amotekun operatives and the robbers, forcing the criminals to abandon the stolen items in a bush near Ogere.

The recovered Toyota Matrix and televisions were retrieved with the support of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ogere Unit, which collaborated closely with Osun Amotekun during the recovery operation.

Omoyele said, “The success of this operation is a clear indication of Amotekun’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens in Osun State.”

Omoyele also commended the FRSC in Ogere for their timely assistance, saying, “We acknowledge the support of the FRSC Ogere Command for their collaboration in achieving this feat.

“On Monday, the recovered items were officially returned to their rightful owners at the Amotekun Headquarters Operation Base in Osogbo by the Corps’ Operations Commander, Olagunju Joseph.”

Omoyele, who encouraged the public to report suspicious activities, added that security is a collective responsibility. “Our doors are always open to reports and intelligence from the public.”

While reaffirming the commitment of Osun Amotekun to protecting lives and property, he encouraged public cooperation, maintaining that it strengthens efforts to maintain safety across the state.

“Osun Amotekun would remain unrelenting in ensuring the state is inhospitable to criminals. Osun Amotekun will continue to work relentlessly to ensure that criminals find no safe haven in our state,” he added.
