Electricity Distribution Company, Ikeja Electric (IE), has built a travellers lodge for officers in transit at Ipaja Police Divisional Headquarters, Alagolo in Lagos State.

The project, executed through Sahara Group Foundation, the corporate social sustainability vehicle for Sahara Group, is in line with IE’s commitment to impacting the environment where it operates.

Speaking at the inauguration, Folake Soetan, chief executive officer of Ikeja Electric, said,

“the lodge would help to boost morale of officers and promote efficiency.”

She stressed IE’s commitment to supporting sustainable development in its host communities and environs.

Ipaja Police Station travellers’ lodge features facilities and amenities, including a hostel block with lavatory and kitchen, overhead water tank, wardrobes, reading tables and chairs.

Ejiro Gray, director of the foundation, said,

“the decision to build the lodge was an easy one, as it helps to reflect the foundation’s commitment to supporting improved security in communities to enhance efficiency of the police.”

Gray thanked officers at Ipaja for providing support during the construction, stessing the importance of collaboration to improve security in our society.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Ewah Bassey, thanked Ikeja Electric and Sahara Group Foundation.

Oba of Ipaja, Kolawole Egundupe hailed Ikeja Electric and the foundation for the project, saying it would promote safety in the community.
