The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, announced that the military and security agencies are actively pursuing individuals behind the calls for an undemocratic change of government.

According to General Musa, the military is aware that certain protesters advocating for regime change are being sponsored, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend these sponsors.

General Musa made this statement during a joint press briefing with other security chiefs on Tuesday, August 6, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja. He emphasized the military’s commitment to maintaining constitutional order and addressing any threats to national security.

The high-profile meeting included the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, Chief of Defence Intelligence, and Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun. Also present were representatives from the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS).

General Musa said that some sponsors of rioters flying foreign flags have been arrested, while their bank accounts have been frozen.
