Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that both Achraf Hakimi and Ousmane Dembélé have picked up injuries that will keep them out of action for several weeks.
The French club released the news on its website which comes as a major setback for Luis Enrique’s side, who are preparing for a busy run of fixtures across domestic and European competitions.
The club confirmed in an official medical update released by the club, PSG revealed that Hakimi has suffered a severe sprain to his left ankle and will be sidelined for a number of weeks. The Moroccan defender picked up the injury during their recent Champions League clash and is now undergoing treatment.
There were initial reports there was a major ligament damage but, fortunately, no rupture meaning he could return within six to eight weeks if his recovery goes smoothly. His participation in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations now appears highly doubtful, a huge blow for both club and country.
On the other hand. Ousmane Dembélé has been diagnosed with a lesion in his left calf, forcing him to withdraw early from PSG’s recent European outing. The French winger has been one of PSG’s most dynamic attacking threats this season, and his absence leaves a significant gap on the right flank.
The club stated that he will receive treatment over the coming weeks, with further evaluations to follow after the international break.
The injury to both players is a major blow for Luis Enrique especially with important matches ahead in Ligue 1 and the Champions League. The team will now rely on squad depth to navigate this crucial period, as fans hope both players make swift and full recoveries.
