A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and former Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Mr Tayo Oluwatuyi, has expressed assurance that the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, would perform well as President of Nigeria.

Oluwatuyi, who is also the Ondo State Coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima Independent Campaign Council, advised the President-elect to urgently tackle the burning issues facing the country, particularly insecurity and cash scarcity, in his first 100 days in office.

The APC chieftain stated this in Akure, the state capital, on Monday.

He said,

“Obviously, in his (Tinubu’s) first 100 days, I want him to focus on the issue of security to reassure Nigerians that a new Nigeria is achievable. He should also resolve the unfriendly cash crunch issues, establish a high-powered agency to address the unemployment crisis, and come up with a master policy plan to improve the energy sector for the entire country.”

The former Ondo SSG said the Nigerians were hopeful that things would be better in the next administration of Tinubu, as he reiterated that the President-elect had the wherewithal to take Nigeria forward.

He stated,

“There were other 17 contestants in the presidential election, but I want to say it with all emphasis that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu stood out in many selection indexes, criteria, and ways. Basically, the top four contenders—Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Mr. Peter Obi had all served in one public office or another, as either governors or vice presidents.

“Taking the antecedents, achievements, performance, and great multi faceted foundation laid by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in Lagos, it is sure, apparent, and certain that he has the wherewithal to achieve and even surpass the renewed hope manifestos and aspirations of Nigerians.”

Meanwhile, Nigerian youth leaders, under the auspices of the Conference of State Youth Parliament Speakers, on Monday, called on the President-elect, to use his victory to make impact on the lives of teeming youths who are ready to contribute to the development of the largest economy in Africa.

In a statement by its image maker, Fawole Opeyemi, the youth leaders urged Tinubu to embrace the philosophy of youth inclusion and empowerment across all the zones in his administration.

The statement quoted the conference chairman, Toba Fatunla, as appealing to the incoming President to strengthen the youth system, saying,

“Nigerian youths, under the auspices of the youth parliament, wish to call on Tinubu to embrace the philosophy of youth inclusion, youth empowerment and youth system strengthening. Needless to say that youth inclusion is a major indicator when it comes to good governance in a democracy, youth empowerment will enhance the capacity of the youth to add value to the economy while system strengthening will bolster youths’ confidence in the country.”
