Pre-season is well underway – and can you hear the sound of the transfer clock ticking down already?

SPFL players are being put through their paces as we gear up towards a return to competitive action but all the while the summer transfer window continues to throw up a few surprises.

One team who have been highly active is Rangers. Wolves loanee Nasser Djiga’s arrival has taken Russell Martin’ signing spree to five – but the latest recruit has suffered an injury scare in his first training session.

Djeidi Gassama is poised to become signing number six – while Luuk de Jong’s U turn could have massive Ibrox repercussions and Jamie Vardy has made his feelings clear over a move.

Across the city, Celtic remain in talks with Michel-Ange Balikwisha with the long-term Belgian target in line to replace Como-bound Nicolas Kuhn while a move for Shin Yamada is said to have been finalised

In the capital, Derek McInnes has confirmed that duo Pierre Landry Kabore and Sabah Kerjota are both on the verge of signing for Hearts, with medicals booked and deals nearly over the line. The Jambos boss has also spoken of his delight at getting skipper Lawrence Shankland tied down to a new contract.

As for Hibs, David Gray isn’t ready to throw in the towel just yet in their attempts to sign Nectar Triantis from Sunderland on a permanent basis.

Scottish Cup winners’ Aberdeen have returned from their pre-season training camp in Portugal and fans are desperate to see another striker come in the door.

South of the border, Arsenal have launched a £50milllion bid for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke.
