Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners Chapel, has sparked online reactions after a light-hearted response to claims that he is the world’s richest pastor.
The moment was captured in a video shared by Christian content creator, Sonoftheprophet, showing an interaction between Oyedepo and popular motivational speaker and entrepreneur, Stephen Akintayo.
During their conversation, Akintayo told the cleric that he was reportedly the richest pastor globally, adding that the claim had been referenced by Forbes and other platforms.
“You’re the richest pastor in the world, sir,” Akintayo said.
Oyedepo, however, brushed off the statement with humour, responding, “Where did you mark it?” a remark that drew laughter from those present.
Bishop Oyedepo is often described as the wealthiest Black pastor, with Forbes estimating his net worth at about $150 million in 2011. He established the Living Faith World Outreach Ministry in 1981, which has grown into one of the largest Christian congregations in Africa.
The church’s headquarters, Faith Tabernacle, is regarded as Africa’s largest worship auditorium and hosts multiple services every Sunday.
According to Forbes, Oyedepo owns several high-value assets, including four private jets, residential properties in London and the United States, Dominion Publishing House, and two universities, among other investments.
