American boxer Ryan Garcia has joined other Nigerians in commenting on the recent controversy surrounding Afrobeat sensation Ebunoluwa Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, during his performances abroad.
The singer faced backlash after reportedly asking a fan and her partner to leave his concert because she was asleep. Fans quickly resurfaced older footage showing similar incidents at his past shows.
Reports indicate that attendance at some of Burna Boy’s recent tour stops was low, with empty seats becoming noticeable, including a moment when a woman was seen sleeping in the audience.
In a viral clip, Garcia discussed the situation with American streamer N3on, describing Burna Boy’s concerts as “empty” due to his behavior. The streamer added that the “Last Last” hitmaker, who once regularly sold out arenas, now seems to struggle to draw crowds following the viral incident.
Garcia also noted that fame is fragile, emphasizing that without an audience, even a superstar can quickly face setbacks.
Following the controversy, Burna Boy reportedly canceled several tour dates amid claims of low ticket sales. While the artist has issued apologies during some performances, public sentiment remains mixed, with many still holding onto their grievances.

@korede_lagos:”He got away with it in Nigeria because everyone gets away with things here, but over there, they cherish their human dignity.”
@rich.kinging:”Without your people you aren’t a superstar regardless.”
@sisterk1:”Some lessons in life can only be learned the hard way, especially when life has offered multiple chances to wake up. At some point, it becomes a choice: put your ego aside and receive the message, or keep repeating the same patterns until reality forces the lesson on you.”
