Music producer Samuel Oguachuba aka Samklef has reacted to Davido‘s claims of being one of the first Nigerian musical acts that popularised the Afrobeats music genre.

O.B.O, in a recently surfaced video of an interview which has since gone viral, stirring flurry of reactions among artistes and their fans, stated he’s responsible for ‘blowing up’ Afrobeats with the Wizkid.

In the clip, Davido also referred to the likes of Burna Boy, Rema, Asake, Fireboy DML, Mayorkun and others as ‘new cats’ noting it ‘felt good to see them coming in and killing it.’

But Samklef supposed otherwise, declaring in a tweet that the actual brains behind the popularisation of Afrobeats were Olamide and Wizkid.

According to him, the YBNL boss and Big Wiz spearheaded the spread of the Africa’s most popular music genre while others like Davido joined along the way.

“The two streets kids that started the game. Others joined them. Samklef dey talk am as e be”, were his words that accompanied a throwback photo of Baddo and Wizzy.
