Gunmen assassinate businessman after Ramadan prayer in Ondo

Gunmen suspected to be assassins have k!lled a businessman, Ismaila Awoyinka, in Ore, Ondo State.

It was gathered that the businessman, who sells building materials, was shot d3ad at his residence opposite Caring Heart Mega School, Idi Mango area in Ore, on Saturday evening. March 1, 2025.

According to a source in the community, the incident happened shortly after the deceased left the mosque after Ramadan prayer.

“He was assassinated the moment he left the mosque after Taraweeh prayer (a voluntary prayer during Ramadan), very close to his house, around 8:35 p.m. on Saturday. After he left the mosque, some persons dressed in white attire alighted from a motorcycle and stayed around the place,” the source said.

“As he (deceased) was about to enter his house, they ambushed him and shot him. He was shot at close range, and he d!ed on the spot.”

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident on Sunday.

“The incident happened, and we have commenced an investigation into it,” the PPRO stated.
