Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher, has questioned Mikel Arteta’s decision to start the Carabao Cup final with his second-choice goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Kepa started the Wembley showpiece ahead of David and it was his howler that led to Manchester City’s goal, headed in by Nico O’Reilly.
O’Reilly’s second header in the game saw Pep Guardiola’s men win the first piece of silverware.
After the game, Arteta leapt to Kepa’s defence, insisting his decision was “right and fair.”
But Carragher said on Sky Sports: “I’ve got strong views on playing the second goalkeeper. I don’t like it, but I can understand it in some situations.
“But Mikel Arteta does not owe Kepa anything. He owes Arsenal supporters the best possible chance of winning the first trophy in six years. They’ve won one trophy in nine years.
