The Justice Haruna Tsammani-led Presidential Election Petitions Court has affirmed the election of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The court in its ruling held that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar, failed to prove that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was wrong to have returned Tinubu as the duly elected by majority of lawful votes cast in the February 25, 2023 poll

“This petition accordingly lacks merit. I affirm the return of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the duly elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The parties are to bear their cost.” the court ruled

On the issue of Tinubu’s conviction and the issue of his dual citizenship, the Tribunal again held again that it was incompetent and liable to be struck out.

On March 1, INEC declared Tinubu winner of the February 25 presidential election after he polled a total of 8,794,726 votes to beat his main rivals, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP who polled a total of 6,984,520 votes while Peter Obi of the Labour Party came third in the election with a total of 6,101,533 votes.
