Premier League legend, Alan Shearer has brutally slammed Liverpool star Joe Gomez after his costly error in the Reds 5-2 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday.

Shearer, Premier League all-time goalscorer, feels that the player is too mistake prone.

Liverpool were 2-0 up in the first-leg of the last-16 tie at Anfield but Real Madrid bounced back to humiliate the Premier League giants in a shockingly poor defensive display by Jurgen Klopp’s side.

And Shearer feels the blame should be on centre-back Gomez after the historic defeat as he told the BBC: “Joe Gomez makes too many mistakes.

“Virgil van Dijk does not look comfortable when he’s alongside him. You always feel [they] are going to give something away when Gomez is playing.

“They were hopeless at the back… They’re not very good at the back and they don’t have the protection they used to have.

“…Gomez doesn’t get tight to Vinicius Jr for that first goal… all these things add up.”
